They are attached to the Vespa in the same way as bench style seats by being directly bolted to the frame in a matter of minutes. Often mistakenly termed as a sports seat, these items were actually factory issued to comply with the Italian traffic regulations of the time forbidding passengers on 50cc two-wheelers. They only provide enough space for one adult, a fact underlined by the lack of a pillion safety strap or similar. The seat is released by a lever hidden underneath the rear of the seat.
