Malossi Variator Spring Guide TORSION CONTROLLER Minarelli

The Malossi TORSION CONTROLLER variator spring guide is a quality product, specifically designed for Yamaha and Minarelli engines from 50 to 100cc. This component, developed in Malossi's racing department, represents a concentration of technology, lightweight and perfect in its simplicity.

The design and formulation of the materials are patented, with the aim of reducing vibrations and stabilizing the operation of the system at any rotational speed and at any operating temperature.

During the development of the Torsion Controller, all existing solutions on the market were taken into consideration, such as ball, roller, and radial sliding metal rollers, but none of these yielded satisfactory results.

Prototypes were made with alternative, metallic systems, but without obtaining positive results. Only after exhausting laboratory and track tests, it was possible to fine-tune the Torsion Controller project.

This component solves two main problems. The first problem concerns the excursion of the gear change curve, where the bushing of the movable pulley slides along the hub of the fixed pulley and twists the counter spring. In some cases, the spring loses its position and rubs against the mass carrier plate, while in other cases it remains integral with it, determining randomly different contrasting forces.

The second problem concerns the centrifugal forces that develop at high rotational speeds, which influence the spring and cause it to deform, creating strong vibrations that can be annoying for the rider or damaging to the engine, making the gear change curve inconsistent.

After tests in the test room and on the track, the Torsion Controller project was approved for all types of scooters examined, achieving a high level of satisfaction.
