This shock absorber is the result of in-depth study and collaboration between Malossi and Paioli, and has been tested on Italian tracks to ensure excellent performance.
One of the distinctive features of these shock absorbers is the presence of an external fluid compensation tank. This tank is connected to the shock absorber through a high-resistance tube and contains a floating diaphragm that separates the oil from the high-pressure nitrogen gas. This system allows for precise calibration and an increase in the quantity of internal fluids.
The shock absorber is of the oleopneumatic type with a separate compensation tank. The shock absorber rod has a diameter of 14 mm and is made of 38 NiCrMo4UNI 7845 steel, with a hard chrome deposit with a thickness of 25-30 microns for increased surface resistance. The piston has a diameter of 36 mm and is equipped with two independent lamellar packs, one in compression and one in extension. The new harmonic steel lamellar system allows for precise calibration of the shock absorber.
The shock absorber is equipped with a piston guide shoe made of LUBRIFLON-PTFEB70, a modified compound loaded with bronze, which ensures excellent sliding. The guide bushing is made of GUIDA DU, a compound obtained by sintering a spheroidal bronze state on a properly pressed mild steel strip and with subsequent impregnation and coating of a PTFE+FB mixture. The scraper ring is made of SEALTHANE polyester resin grade 9345.
The shock absorber offers micrometric adjustment of the spring preload through rings, and pre-selectable hydraulic braking adjustment in extension with 24 positions and pre-selectable compression adjustment with 10 positions. The oil used is a special low viscosity oil that is practically insensitive to temperature variations.
