Malossi DIGITRONIC digital ECU with variable advance

The Malossi DIGITRONIC digital electronic control unit with variable advance is an innovative product that offers numerous advantages. Compared to the original version, this control unit has completely modified advance curves and a rev limiter shifted by 1,000 rpm.

The new Digitronic efficiently manages ignition timing, the SAS valve, and the PTC heater. Ignition timing is managed through linear interpolation of a three-dimensional advance curve, taking into account 16 engine speed points and 8 engine temperature points.

Thanks to the introduction of secondary air downstream of the throttle valve, the engine control system compensates for the non-linearities typical of a carburetor system. The SAS valve, controlled by the control unit, reduces pollutant emissions and optimizes engine performance under all operating conditions.

The control unit pays particular attention to cold starts, ensuring proper fuel evaporation even at low temperatures. Additionally, it manages a PTC heater located on the carburetor to maintain a constant temperature of the carburetor float chamber and the fuel contained within.

To prolong the lifespan of the 8 mm spark plug used in the vehicle, the control unit introduces a coil charging time limitation strategy, thus reducing spark plug electrode erosion. This strategy allows for a reduction in ignition system discharge energy without compromising engine performance, even under high rotational speeds and high alternator voltages.

Furthermore, the engine control unit ensures the vehicle's operation even in the case of a deteriorated or absent battery. By engaging the Kick Starter, it is possible to start the vehicle in any battery energy state.
