The Malossi Ø 22x28 inclined intake manifold is an essential component for Yamaha, MBK, and Minarelli vertical 2-stroke engines with a displacement of 50cc. This manifold serves as an access corridor for the air-fuel mixture into the engine through the reed valve.
The overall performance of an engine depends on various factors, including volumetric, thermodynamic, and mechanical efficiency. Volumetric efficiency represents the ratio between the amount of mixture entering the combustion chamber and the engine displacement.
The intake manifold plays a fundamental role in volumetric efficiency, as it must allow the passage of the mixture with minimal friction. To avoid efficiency losses, it is important for the manifold to have smooth transitions and no sharp edges along the mixture's path.
In addition, the intake manifold acts as a reservoir for the fresh charge, allowing the mixture to accumulate and compress against the reed valves when they close.
This component also connects the carburetor to the engine crankcase or cylinder and can dampen vibrations transmitted from the crankcase to the carburetor, preventing fuel and air emulsion in the carburetor float bowl.
