The Malossi Ø 33 inclined intake manifold with a 60mm spacing for PHM 40 carburetors with a rigid attachment is a fundamental component for optimizing engine performance. This intake manifold allows the entry of the air-fuel mixture into the combustion chamber through the reed valve.

The overall efficiency of the engine depends on various factors, including volumetric, thermodynamic, and mechanical efficiency. Volumetric efficiency represents the ratio between the amount of mixture entering the combustion chamber and the engine displacement. One of the main influences on volumetric efficiency is the friction encountered by the mixture as it travels from the air filter to the combustion chamber. The intake manifold plays a crucial role in this process, as it must allow the passage of the mixture with minimal friction. Therefore, it is important to avoid abrupt changes in section and sharp edges along the path of the mixture.

In addition, the intake manifold acts as an accumulator of fresh charge, allowing the mixture to accumulate when the reed valve closes. This component has a specific speed range in which it expresses maximum efficiency and is designed to support the carburetor by connecting it to the engine crankcase or cylinder. In this way, the manifold helps dampen vibrations transmitted from the crankcase to the carburetor, avoiding the emulsion of fuel and air in the carburetor float bowl.

Malossi, with its extensive experience in the field of engine fuel systems, has developed a new line of rubber and aluminum alloy manifolds for the latest generation of scooters. These manifolds have been tested and developed by Malossi's research department, both on the road and on race circuits. In particular, Malossi's rubber manifolds feature a composite structure, with an aluminum insert embedded in a plastic material resistant to oils and fuels. This ensures a rigid attachment base to the crankcase and good elasticity of the manifold body.

Thanks to careful study and the expertise of Malossi technicians, this seemingly simple component offers optimal and long-lasting performance.
