The Malossi Ø 28 straight rubber intake manifold with a 65mm center distance is designed for PHBH 27 - 28 B carburetors.

This intake manifold plays a fundamental role in the overall performance of the engine. Volumetric, thermodynamic, and mechanical efficiency are the factors that determine the overall efficiency of the engine. Volumetric efficiency represents the ratio between the amount of air-fuel mixture entering the combustion chamber and the engine displacement. One of the main influences on volumetric efficiency is the friction loss that occurs during the passage of the mixture through the intake manifold. Therefore, it is essential that the manifold is designed to minimize losses and avoid abrupt changes in section or sharp edges along the path of the mixture.

In addition, the intake manifold also acts as a reservoir for the fresh charge, allowing the mixture to accumulate and compress against the reeds when the reed valve closes. Each manifold has a specific speed range in which it offers maximum efficiency (tuned manifold). The manifold also serves to connect the carburetor to the engine crankcase or cylinder and can dampen vibrations transmitted from the crankcase to the carburetor, preventing fuel and air emulsion in the carburetor float bowl.

Malossi technicians have dedicated considerable study and effort to the development of this line of rubber and aluminum alloy manifolds for the new generation scooters. Malossi rubber manifolds feature a composite structure, with an aluminum insert incorporated into a plastic material resistant to oils and fuels. This ensures a rigid attachment base to the crankcase and good elasticity of the manifold body.
