The Malossi crankshaft is a delicate and important component for the Vespa engine, capable of managing the movements of the connecting rod and piston and regulating the intake through the phasing of the semi-shoulder.

Malossi crankshafts for Vespa are made of high-quality hardened steel and vacuum-cast, a material highly resistant to scratches. The connecting rod has a design that maximizes weight containment and ensures necessary rigidity. The threading of the transmission side shaft of the crankshafts has also been improved to increase strength. The position of the key has been revised to avoid compromising the threading and contribute to strength. The crankshafts are supplied with special, more resistant nuts.

Crankshafts with different connecting rod lengths are available for small frame Vespas, as well as full shoulder crankshafts for engines with rotary valve intake. Malossi full shoulder crankshafts are intended for Vespa engines modified to use a reed valve intake system. Optimal balance is guaranteed by tungsten inserts. The transmission side semi-shoulder features specially designed chamfers to facilitate the entry of fresh gases into the crankcase. The circular mass structure benefits from this new crankshaft and crankcase configuration, receiving the maximum possible pressure.
